About this Division

Welcome to the Division of Research, Sponsored Programs, and Innovation, led by the Vice President for Research, Sponsored Programs, and Innovation. This office is responsible for developing and implementing proactive strategies to enhance 51°µÍø’s research capabilities and increase annual research funding from federal agencies and other sources. Additionally, it ensures that 51°µÍø complies fully with state and federal regulations regarding research and other sponsored programs.

Since its establishment in 1996, the Office of Research has more than doubled its annual funding for research and other sponsored programs. Currently, 51°µÍø receives between $40 million and $84 million annually in research and sponsored initiatives funding. This significant achievement is credited to the dedication of faculty members and staff who actively seek funding and successfully write proposals. The staff in the Division of Research and Sponsored Programs, along with various departments of Business and Fiscal Affairs, also deserve recognition for their enthusiastic support of researchers throughout the grantsmanship process. These grants and contracts not only help us fulfill 51°µÍø's research mission but also have a substantial impact on our academic programs. The four Ph.D. programs at 51°µÍø are prime examples of initiatives developed solely on the basis of the expertise and resources cultivated by our faculty members.
